MEN IN THE SERVICES
A cable has been received by Mr and Mrs. G. F. Reid, of 312, Dominion Road, Mount Eden from their son, Reginald John Reid, stating that he has been promoted to the rank of sergeant-observer and that he was presented with his wings by the Mayor of the town which adjoins his training camp in Canada. Ser-geant-Observer Reid attended the Mount Albert Grammar School and the Auckland University College He was also captain of the Dominion Road Methodist Church Boys' Brigade. Prior to leaving for Canada last year, Sergeant-Observer Reid was on the staff of the engineering department of the Post and Tele graph Department both in Auckland and at Whangarei.
Sapper J. Edward Barker, reported missing, Middle East, is a son of Mr and Mrs. R. E. Barker, 11, Old Mill Road, Grey Lynn. He is 25 years of age and left New Zealand about 15 months ago. He met with an accident at Bardia and was in hospital at Alexandria. After he became fit again he rejoined the divisional cavalry. Before joining the army Sapper Barker was employed by Messrs. Smith and Caughey.
