PENSION PAY DAYS
The plight of the old age pensioner is indeed a tragedy. The following, however, may alleviate the position somewhat. Pensions are paid monthly. Consequently, then, there is a days time lapse between the !It P< ; Ctlve Payments. Hence many pensioners are forced to live on ci edit during this interval. On the receipt of the following pavment they then are able to pav their commitments, rent, tradesmen's bills, etc. fulfilling their obligations many of them have verv little actual ln fac . t - some " of them are practically penniless before the next Sfil? 10 ? ls ue - t^e payments were made fortnightly a great deal of inconvenience and hardship would be avoided because there would be only a 14 days' interval br'ween payments.
