NO SPARE PARTS

TOASTERS AND HEATERS

Persons possessing electric toasters and immersion heaters (or water boilers) which require repairing will be unable to obtain the parts, according to information received from electrical firms in the city. It will be recalled that at the end of last month, when the Government placed a ban on the manufacture of certain electrical goods and appliances, it was stated that provision would be made for servicing plant already in use by permitting the manufacture of elements, etc., for all domestic appliances. Toasters and immersion heaters, however, have been excluded, apparently as the Government regards them as non-essen-tial. Actually, immersion heaters have been out of production for some nine months, according to one firm, as the copper wire necessary has been conserved for use in electric jugs.
