DISTRICT COMMITTEES
Possibly few racegoers are aware of the constitution and function of district committees. These committees control galloping races in their respective provincial districts, deal with all licenses of trainers, jockeys and "gentlemen riders, dates of race meetings; approve of all programmes, receive all reports of race meetings in the district, and approve or otherwise ail fines and penalties imposed by judicial •ommittees. , „ , The district committee hears all appeals oclged by owners, trainers and jockeys jgain st any decisions of any judicial committees, and has power to dismiss or uphold appeals, also to confirm or vary any lenalties inflicted. The "District Trust Fund for the reief of distressed trainers and jockeys is ndministered by the committee and relief given where deemed deserving. Under the Rules of Racing, the district committees consist of five members of the Metropolitan Club (one of whom must be chairman) and five members elected by C ° The Y present members of the Auckland District Committee are Mr. M.
