FURTHER DAMAGE
WAIRARAPA DISTRICT
SEVERE WIND AND STORM (P.A.I CARTERTON, this day. A very severe wind and storm visited Carterton on Saturday last and, following on the earthquake, several premises were still further damaged. Portion of the front of the \\ airarapa Farmers' Co-op. Association's premises was blown in bodily, and only the fact that a dislodged section happened to catch on a cross member in the roof, saved the whole piece irom crashing on the stock and employees.
The Wairarapa brick works, the walls of which were badly damaged in the 'quake, is now roofless. The wind toi-e through holes in the walls and lifted the roof in large sections, leaving the building a complete wreck.
Minor damage was clone in various parts of the town. The work of building chimneys thrown down in the earthquake is proceeding very slowly. The post office tower has been partly dismantled and the bells have been removed. Nothing so far has been done in regard to renovating or rebuilding damaged business premises.
