TROTS ABANDONED

FORBURY PARK MEETING (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Tuesday. It was decided at a meeting of the Forbury Park Trotting Club committee that the patriotic meeting on August 22 for which permission had been granted by the Government at the request of Messrs H. F. Nicholl and E. G. Bridgens, representing the New Zealand Trotting Conference, should be abandoned through lack of accommodation for the general public, and for the Horses that might be competing at the meeting. If conditions imposed by the authorities—conditions which were held to be unreasonable —were relaxed, a meeting could be held at a later date. ROYAL WORTHY IS GOOD In his last four starts Royal Worthy has won twice and has been second twice, and in each race he has shown a brilliance that marks him as one of the best trotters in New Zealand. His last race was in the Mayfield Handicap of a mile and a half, 3.35 class, at Ashburton, and although he was conceding starts up to 60 yards, he had the race m hand half a mile from home. From a 3.30 mark he recorded 3.22—a fine effort. Since that race Royal Worthy has been kept In steady training, and he appears to have a chance of adding to his record in the Royal Navy Handicap at Addington next Saturday. Over a mile and five furlongs he is set to give away 36 yards to horses that are not numbered among the champions. His most dangerous opponents may prove to be Within, 60 yards, and Margin, 84 yards. Royal Worthy Is trained at Methven by his owner-breeder, Mr. A. J. Wilson.
