Waihi. Hotorua and Matamata respectively, with one more recently established at Te Awaniiitu. "Plans in some form have hen prepared to cater for secondary anil intermediate departments at the following centres—Kaitaia. Kaikohe Hclensville, Dargaville. Pacroa. Te Aroha. Morrinsville, Cambridge, Tauranga and Opotiki. In all these cases separate sites, adequate for the purpose, have been ac(|uired and in the ca-.es of Te Aroha and Morrins\ ille. Forms I. and 11. are already occrpving the same building a. the sieondary department. "Applications arc before the Department for authority to add to the secondary departments at Paeroa and Cambridge, so that Forms I. and J[. can he accommodated. Applications are before the Department for complete new buildings at Kaitaia, Kaikohe and Tauranga, each scheme having been planned to cater eventually for an intermediate department. "At Pukekohe and Thames there are separate high schools on adequate sites and any additions to same have been considered with a view to the provision of an intermediate department at a later date. "The position at Hamilton is beyond the board's control, as it will involve the erection of a new building to house the high school boys. The site for this building is available, and the general scheme includes for the provision of an intermediate school. At Putaruru a neparate site has been purchased to cater for the needs of both secondary and intermediate departments. The position at Otorohanga is at present under consideration and will be the subject of a separate report. At Taumarunui, a sketch plan has been prepared for adding to the present secondary department on the existing site. Loral Enthusiasm Needed "It will thus be seen that consideration has been given to the question of providing accommodation for Intermediate departments throughout the whole of the Auckland province. Much will depend on local enthusiasm; and the general consolidation of schools surrounding the various centres referred to In this report as to the order in which the complete projects will eventuate, but in the meantime provision has been made for same, so that any additional accommodation should be considered in relation to the proposed final scheme for each centre."
