YOUNG SOLDIER DIES
! \VKKK-KNI) ACCIDENTS Four people were killed in the Doj minion as the result of accidents | during the week-end. A young soldier was killed boarding a moving train. At To Awamutu a car skidded and overturned several times the I driver being killed outright. A | woman died from a head injurv in Wellington. An elderly man died in Auckland Hospital from injuries sufI fered in a motor car accident in Wellesley Street. A small boy suffered injuries to an eye when he fell at his home in Onehunga. FALL UNDER TRAIN (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Sunday. A young soldier was killed when he attempted to board a train at 6.10 on Saturday evening after it had restarted at Paekakariki. He was:— William Kalph Isdale, aged 18, of Elwood Road, Hastings. The youth was travelling from his home to camp to begin training and was attempting to board the train near the tront when he fell under it, most of the carriages passing over him. CAR CAPSIZES (0.c.) HAMILTON, Sunday. A car overturned as the result of a skid at Te Awamutu on Friday evening, the driver being killed instantly. He was:— James Walter Thomson, aged 56, cartage contractor, of Te Kawa. Mr. Thomson was alone in a motor car travelling along the Te Kawa Road when the car skidded and overturned several times. He was crushed beneath the car and was killed instantly. He is survived by a son and two daughters.
