BATTLE OF JUTLAND

Yesterday was the twenty-sixth anniversary of the Battle of Jutland, which was unique in that it was the only occasion in the last war on which the main British and German fleets met. The British Grand Fleet was under Admiral Jellicoe and the German High Sea Fleet was under Admiral Scheer. Both sides suffered heavy losses, and as a result of the battle, the German Fleet did not put to sea again unitl it surrendered to Admiral Beatty in November, 1918.
