AMERICAN TANKS
Steady Quantities Arriving In Australia ENCOURAGING REPORT Rec. 10 a.m. MKI.IIOfItN'R, this day. American M.'i medium tanks known as "General Grants," weighing 2H t«ns, are arriving in Australia in steady quantity, states tho Sydney Morning Herald correspondent at Allied Headquarters this week. He says: "I visited an Australian camp and saw Australians handling these tanks. It was an encouraging sight. An Australian officer, who went, through the Middle East campaign, assured me that these tanks arc the best we have seen and probably the best we shall get in this war.
"Nearby were American M 3 light tanks, which will be used chiefly for reconnaissance. I Inspected a regiment equipped completely with tanks of the American pattern. The occasion was a review arranged hv the Army Department for British. American and Australian journalists and correspondents."
