VENGEANCE STARTS
Six Members Of Czech Family First Victims British Official Wireless. Ree. 1 RUG BY, May 20. A special meeting of the Czechoslovak Cabinet, was held in London to-day to discuss the latest dramatic events In the protectorate, and a proclamation protesting against "German bestiality" was issued. It says: "Our sorely tried but unbroken people are answering the fury of their German oppressors more and more strongly." The proclamation continues: "The Germans now begin the murders of entire families. This Is an act. of bestiality. The Germans are thus provoking a just rettribution upon themselves In accordance with commands of God and man. In the attack on the life of the monster Heydrich the Czechoslovak people are punishing not only his crimes committed against Czechoslovak victims, but also against the victims of all other enslaver! nations In Europe." According to the latest news from Merlin reaching neutral countries, the condition of Heydrich appears to be more serious than was at first thought. Messages from Switzerland and Sweden say that at noon to-day Meydrlch's condition was still very serious, and that he was hovering between life and death. Three bullets are said to have been extracted from his spine and spinal cord, and he had a blood transfusion.
Meanwhile, a fearful, horrible vengeance has already begun against the Innocent Czech people. Prague wireless announced that the first batch of executions of victims numbered six, and all from one familv. Two were women and one was a boy of 17. They were accused of having hidden elements hostile to Germany.
