Ceaseless Shelling And Bombing Of Kinwha EXEMV INKS POISON' GAS Rcc. 2 p.m. CHUNGKING, May 29. The Japanese have almost completely surrounded Kinhwa. provincial capital of Chekiang, which is being ceaselessly pounded by artillery fire and aerial bombs, but it is still in Chinese hands, reports the Central News. The Japanese have left a force of 40.000 for the siege of Kinhwa. while 100.000 troops have by-passed it to attack Kanc-hi. Taneki and Kienten. The Japanese were twice repulsed at I.anchi. leaving several thousand dead. but the enemy captured Langyu. 25 miles we.-t of Kinwha. The Chinese have captured 10 points on the outskirts of Ichang. The enemy used poison gas in storming Tahgki. ami also dropped gas bombs from planes in an attempt to cross the river :>>o miles north of Kinwha. The gas put out of action about a third of the Chinese defenders. Japanese forces have begun a movement from Nanchang, but the column was thrown back at Fuho with heavv losses.
Seven Japanese warships shelled the island port of Santuao. in Fukien Province, at dusk on Tuesday. The Chinese beat off the attackers.
