RATEPAYERS' INTERESTS

A report on the deputation from the Auckland Suburban Local Bodies' Association which waited upon the Aucklana HoFDital Board last Monday evening in connection with the proposed new hospital levy was furnished to the One Tree Hill Borough Council last evening by the Mayor, Mr. I. J. Goldstine. On the motion of the Mayor, it was decided to advise Mr. A. J. Moody, the council's representative, of the council's views that the full amount of the levy as proposed would be lnlmicable' to the interests of the ratepayers, and to request him to support the proposal to delete £41,440 from the estimates and hold that amount in abeyance pending a decision of the Government in the matter. It was also decided to ask Mr. Moody whether he was prepared to support the proposal.
