E.F.S. FIREMEN

WATERFRONT DISPLAY A great wall of water, thrown 40 feet into the air from some 20 hydrants and cascading down to form a sparkling curtain against the sun s rays, made a spectacular display qp the waterfront opposite the Harbour Board offices at lunch time yesterday. This display, staged in support of the Liberty Loan campaign by the city's E.F.Si fire fighters, impressed a large and Interested crowd or spectators with the efficiency of the new organisation. For this demonstration, which was preceded by a procession through the city of fire fighting vehicles, the water was being pumped from the harbour by the fire fighters' mobile equipment. The volume, reaching a height of from 30 to 40 feet, completely shutting off the harbour view from the Ferry Building to Prince's Wharf, gave a reassuring glimpse of what the E.F.S. fire fighters can do.
