SHOULD GO WELL
So far the Foxbridge fillv Marble Fox has not had any luck in her races, and those who saw her put up a great effort to beat all but Willie Pay in the first division of the Otorohanga Handicap at Te Rapa will be on her side at EUerslie. She is ln the first division of the Jervois Handicap at the minimum. 8.0, and with anything like a good run in the race she should be about at the end. F. Tutchen has her very well at the moment, and she appears to be at home on a soft track. WAS UNLUCKY A horse likely to show up at Ellerslie in a hack event is Borak. It U true that he finished out of a place in the Horotiu Handicap at Te Rapa. for which he was strongly fancied, but he got away very badly and was standing the leaders up a big start at the home turn. From that point he came along solidly, and his effort suggested a win for him in the near future. A GOOD HACK Foxlore was not produced at Te Rapa but he will be on hand to take on the Cornwall Handicap on Saturday. The son of Foxbridge Is a first-class hack. and. with 7.0 on his back, he Is a likelv sort to bring off a surprise. He Is to be ridden by N. Vaughan, who is invariably seen to advantage ln distance events. VETERAN HAS HARD TASK The form of the veteran Erination at Egmont and Te Rapa hardly suggests the chestnut as a winner of the Great Northern. He is a safe conveyance, but at his age can hardly be expected to hold his own with many of his younger opponents. GALLOPING WELL Nothing working at Ellerslie has been sprinting more attractively than Cherrv's Ticket, and she promises to be in strong demand fn the second division of the Members' Handicap. Her best performance to date was when she won the Bowen Handicap at Ellerslie on January 2. On that occasion she ran the six furlongs ln 1.12 and beat a smart field. Since then the Croupier filly has been four times beaten out of a place, but F. Gilchrist has her at the top of her form again, and she should race prominently at the approaching meeting. W BOTH NORTHERNS When Beverley won two hurdle races at the last Alison Cup meeting at Ellerslie, big things were predicted for the chestnut, particularly as a steeplechaser. However, his form since then baa not been at all encouraging, although he finished a poor third in the Te Rapa Steeple*. Beverley has been paid up for ln both Northerns, but Is not likely to be greatly fancied. LATEST ARRIVAL Ksperance Bay, winner of the Great Northern Hurdle race last year, has arrived at Ellerslie, and is in nice racing condition.
