DAIRY AWARDS
BUTTER AND CHEESE ALBERTLAND'S SUCCESS In the dairy competitions the open championship of New Zealand has been won by the Al'bertland Cooperative Dairy Company, managed by Mr. E. S. Richardson. Second place has been secured by the Ohura Valley Factorv (Mr. G. A. Eng) and third place bv the Waimea Factory (Mr. R. W. Hooper). These competitions are usually conducted in conjunction with the Waikato Winter Show, hut as the show is not being held this year owing to war conditions, the judging was carried out at the Auckland Farmers' Freezing Company's store. The Hardley Challenge Cup, open to the Auckland First Assistants' Association for a box of butter suitable for export, was won by Mr. A. F. Fish, of the Alhertland Co-opera-tive Dairy Company, Mr. M Martin (Bay of Islands) was second and Mr. J. L. Davis (Rodney) third. There were only t-yvo entries in the cheese section, and none of these was for a big cup. / Other butter awards:— Grand championship wanner.—Bay of Islands (Mr. C. S. Foster). Championship' of Auckland Province.— Rodney (Mr. P. S. Halligan) 1, Pio Pio (Mr. Bowyer) 2, Kaitieke (Mr. \V. J. Norton) 3. Championship of Taranaki.—Stratford (Mr, N. Beere) 1, Mangorei (Mr. N. M. Ross) 2, Eltham (Mr. E. H. Purehas) 3. Championship of Wellington and Hawke's Bay.—Kuku-Manakau (Mr. E. Sindsen) 3. United (Mr. E. D. Hutchison) 2, Ranghvahia-Ruahine (Mr. W. Jones) 3. Championship of South Island.—Golden Bay (Mr. C. J. Ellery) 1, Waimea (Mr. R. W. Hooper) 2.
