EXPLOSION IN TENT
territorials suffer burns
(0.C.) WHANG ARE I, this day While handling explosives in Northland yesterday afternoon, three territorials were injured in an explosion. They were rushed to the Whangarei District Hospital in an army ambulance. They were:— Lieutenant Ivan Martin, aged 21. son of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Martin, of Runaruna, Hokianga, burned all over the face, both hands and arms_ and neck - dangerously ill. He is a North Auckland Rugby representative forward. Private Ronald Fitness, aged 21, of Dargaville. severe burns to the neck, face and both hands; seriously id. ' Corporal Graham Dreadon, aped 21. of Dargaville. minor burns to the face, neck and hands. Details of the occurrence are meagre but the accident is believed to have occurred in a tent at 1 p.m. The men were admitted to hospital j last night.
