TRAGEDY AT HOSTEL

FALL WAS ACCIDENTAL

A verdict of accidental death was returned by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, this morning when he concluded the inquest concerning the death on May 1) of Miss Maureen Mary Hartley, aged 1!), daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Hartley, of Calliope Itoarl, Devonport. Miss Hartley, who was a nurse, fell from the balcony on the third floor of the Cargen Nurses' Hostel. Eden Crescent, to the courtvard of the building about 8.15 a.m. on May 9, causing her death almost immediately. The coroner remarked that all the evidence, also the police inquiries, went to show that the fall was purely accidental.
