TROPHIES PRESENTED

WOMEN'S SKRVICE CORPS Trophies for company and platoon drill won by various units of the Women's National Service Corps were presented on Saturday by Mrs. A. D. Sinclair. The Company Cup, presented by the Auckland District Employers' Federation, went to A Company, with Signallers second. The Davis Trophy, for platoon drill, was won by No. 2 platoon of the Signals Company, and the Harrison Lee Shield for the second platoon was awarded to No. 3 Platoon of B Company. Before the presentation of the awards, the battalion marched past Captain A. D. Sinclair, assistant area ofheer, who took the salute. The march was accompanied by the corps band under the baton of Sergeant C. Beere. Captain Sinclair, addressing the corps members, stated that he had watched their work with interest ever since the outbreak of war, and hoped that their services would be used even more in the future. Mrs. Sinclair also spoke of the high standard of efficiency attained by the corps. Platoon drill was then carried out by a special platoon of N.C.O.'s, whose exceptional smartness was commented on by Captain Sinclair.
