SMALLER CARS SUGGESTED

A. recommendationookf k the Tand Transport Advisory Committee that a proportion of the taxi fleets should consist of small cars to carry one or two passenger jobs was brought to the notice of the Auckland Metropolitan Licensing Authority this morning, in a letter received from the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. G. L. Laurenson. The commissioner wrote that the tyre position was critical, and it was urgently necessary that every possible step be taken to get the maximum wear out of existing tyres.

On the motion of Mr. R. Armstrong, it was decided to refer the matter to the taxi committee with power to act.
