SHOOTERS' PETITION
OPEN SEASON FOR DUCKS (0.C.) WELLINGTON, this day. A petition signed by 508 shooters from the Wellington district asking the Wellington Acclimatisation Society to request the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, to arrange for an open season for duck shootiong has been received by the society. The petition points out that other sports are not prohibited, and that the question of the waste of ammunition, which was one of the reasons formerly given against an open season, can not be so serious when it is allowed to be used for clay bird shooting.
