LEVY ON N.Z. WOOL.
WELLINGTON, Thursday. * The rates of the levy on all wool produced in New Zealand are announced in a Gazette notice to-night. They are:—Sixpence a bale, threepence for each fadge, and a penny a bag or sack. These rates, which are unchanged, will apply on all wool produced in New Zealand which at any time during the season commencing October 1 this year is exported from the Dominion or is delivered to a wool manufacturer for use in New Zealand.—(Press Assn.)
A new police station and residence is to he constructed at the corner of St. Heliers Road and Polygon Street, St. Helier's Bay. Tie building will comprise a police officer's residence and offices, but in conformity with the policy of centralisation, the building will not contain a lock-up. The contract has been let by the Public Works Department to Mr. J. W. Hay, of Auckland.
