PERSONAL.
The Hon. J. Cotter. M.L.C., is travelling to Wellington on the Limited express tonight. The Hon. W. E. Barnard, M.P., Speaker of the House of Representatives, was a passenger on the main trunk express for Wellington this afternoon. Mr. F. E. Dougall, of Wellington, who is leaving by Pan-American Airways' Honolulu Clipper to-morrow, will be the first New Zealand passenger to make the trip to San Francisco by air. Mr. R. S. McKenzie, formerly of Taupiri, who lias been in business for the past 15 years in Dunedin, has been elected president of the Real Estate Institute of N.A. (Otago branch). Messrs. J. A. Lee, P. K. Paikea. C. W. Boswell, W. T. Anderton, A. S. Richards C. R. Petrie and A. F. Moncur. M.P.'e, will be passengers on the Limited express for Wellington to-night. The Rev. W. H. Rainey is expected to arrive in Australia at the end of the year to act as Commonwealth secretary of the British and Foreign Bible Society. The appointment is for the duration of the war. Mr. Keith Officer, the senior secretary to the Australian Legation in Washington, arrived from the United States by the Honolulu Clipper yesterday. Mr. Officer was met on arrival by the Australian Trade Commissioner, Mr. C. E. Critchlcy. He will leave for Sydney by flying boat to-morrow and will later continue to Tokyo.
