BUSY YEAR.
REAL .ESTATE INSTITUTE. The ' ninth annual meeting of members of the Auckland branch of the Real Estate Institute of New Zealand was held at - Milne and Ohoyce's ropms yesterday afternoon, preceded by a lunch at 12.30 p.m. In his report on the work of the local committee for the year ended July 31, 1940, Mr. H. B. Harper, vice-president, remarked that the year had been a busy one as much time had been devoted to arbitration cases as well as to routine matters. Members on the register numbered 160 at the present time, being five less than last year. The balance-sheet disclosed a loss on the year's working of £29, being mainly due to the increased social security taxation. The benevolent account showed a surplus of £14 for the year, the capital fund now standing at £811.
Committee elected:—President, Mr. H. B. Harper; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. S. Newcomb, F. Wade; committee, Messrs. K H. Barfoot, G. R. Blackett, J. J. Campbell, H. C. Ernest, J. Grey, F. A. Jarrett, F. Jones-Prosser, J. U. Keddle, G. B. Osmond, Ranfurley Smith, M. C. Thompson.
A resolution was passed to donate £100 to the "Heart to Heart" Appeal.
