EMPIRE WRESTLING CROWN IS STILL IN DISPUTE.
The triangular contest for the British Empire heavy-weight wrestling crown still goes on, with Earl McCready, the popularCanadian, again the holder. John Katan, of Canada, and Sergeant-Ma jor Lofty Blonifield, of New Zealand, both of whom have held the title for a brief period this year, have not yet given up hope. With the season now drawing towards its close, the position is still interesting. There is still a chance that this year the title will remain in New Zealand—in the hands of Blomneld. For that reason the contest between Blomneld and Katan at the Auckland Town Hall on Monday night should provide one of the hardest of the season. It has been announced that the winner will meet McCready, and it may be the last chance. In their previous matches. Blomneld and Katan have shown themselves excellently matched in physique and aggressive skill. Neither has shown any inclination to spare the other, and their matches have been hectic affairs of elbow Jolting, tussles and general ruggedness. Blomneld won the title from Katan a few weeks ago—and he lost it to him in their last match. Each, therefore, knows that If he is to win on this occasion he will have to fight his hardest. It should be a gruelling, thrilling match.
