MILK ZONING.
SCHEME FOR ROTORUA. CONTROL BY COMMITTEE. ROTORUA, this day. The zoning of milk delivery in Rotorua was foreshadowed last night by the Mayor, Mr. T. Jackson, when he said that the Rotorua Borough Council Wa< L2? llcd upon to appoint two representatives on the control committee. Messrs. L. Ewert and P. A. Kueabs were appointed by the council.
Mr. Jackson stated that under the war emergency regulations milk zoning would shortly be introduced into Rotorua in common with other towns above a certain population. A committee would fee set, up with representatives from the BorOugh Council, the Rotorua County Council, milk vendors and producers, with the Mayor as chairman. The object of the committee was to control prices, fix zones and arbitrate in the case of disputes between vendors or between vendors and purchasers. It was essential for the public to have protection in this matter, said Mr. Jackson, and although in some towns zoning had been arranged between the vendors, in Rotorua it was going to be controlled by a committee Which Would see that prices were kept at a fair level, and that the whole scheme was run as efficiently as possible. In reply to Mr. E. T. Johnson, Mr. Jackson said that under the regulations zoning was compulsory in all towns over a certain population.
