TWO MEN CHARGED
COUNTRY BURGLARY.
ONE DENIES GUILT.
A burglary at Kaukapakapa on Aqgust 13 was recalled this morning when two men, James Albert Kean, farm labourer aged 23, and Thomas Boyle n»i. n j r | motor driver, aged 38, were jointlv changed in the Police Court before Kf J. Morling, S.M., with breaking and entering the countinghouse of P. Dy e and Sons and stealing £41 18/ and clothing, shoes and cosmetics valued at £32 8/, of a total value of £74 6/. Car Conversions Admitted. Kean, alone, was further charged, with breaking and entering the shop of Shanks Bros., at Kaukapakapa on August 26 and stealing tobacco, cigarettes and benzine of a total value of£lg 10/. He was also charged with unlawfully converting to h» own use, between August 16 and September 4, six motor cars of a total value of £149 G. To all these charges Kean pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Afterwards Kean went into the witness box and said he remembered the night when he took a car from Symonds Street and drove with Dennis in the car to Kaukapakapa, where they both entered the shop of F. Dye and Sons. Kean said he entered through a window which lie forccd. "We both took some money and each also took goods," he added. "Then we drove back to town after dumping some of tlie property at Otahuhu. I retained some in my possession, as did also Dennis. Dennis gave me £1 10/, which was taken from Dyes* shop. We left the car in Grafton. Dennis drove the car." Dennis, for wbem Mr. Bryce Hart appeared, pleaded not guilty to the one charge brought against him, and be was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. Bail of £100 was renewed.
