UNION PROTESTS.
ALLEGED REMARKS MADE.
HOSPITAL BOARD CHAIRMAN.
Objection to remarks allegedly made by the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, Mr. Allan J. Moody, at the board's meeting on Mondav night has been taken by the Auckland Boilermakers' Union and is expressed in a letter which is- being sent to the individual members of the board for consideration at the next meeting. The letter, written by the secretary of the union, Mr. H. W. Mayo, states: "At a largely attended meeting of thU union attention was drawn to a report of certain remarks by your chairman at Monday's meeting. He is reported to have said: 'If I had my way I would make them work until they dropped.' Assuming that Mr. Moody .was correctly reported, my members wish to know: (1) Whether Mr. Moody (having got his way) proposes to take* his place side by side with the workers, or if he proposes to be in charge of the whip Otherwise put, will he take his own medicine? (2) Whether the board members consider that, aft«r such an outburst, Mr. Moody can lie regarded as a suitable person to hold the position of chairman of the board."
