QUEEN CITY'S DASH. GOLD MONET SONG PLEASES. Smart efforts by Te Kawiti, Queen City, Gold Money Song, Full Hand, Maxam and Aberdovey were the features of the work at Takanini this morning, when , the middle grass, on which the poles were j 20 feet out, provided good going. Te Kawiti (L. C. Brown) decisively defeated Valamito (McTavish) over a mile in 1.47. Te Kawiti is to be a competitor on the second day of the Paeroa meeting. Orelio (Smith) and Arvakur (McMinn) were together at the end of half a mile in 51 3-ss, both working well. The best effort of the morning over five fuiilongs was "that of Gold Money Song (Messervy), who defeated Venture (Smith) by three lengths in 1.4. Queen City. (L. C. Brown) r recorded the best half mi|e by runniiSg:is .toM7 Paeroa on Monday. Full Hand (Smith) was two lengths in front Qf Cornish (McMinn) at the conclusion of five-furlongs, in 1.4' 3-5, Full Hand working attractively. Mysito (Jackson) and Sunola (McTavish) ran live furlongs in 1.5 1-5, Mysito having a good deal the best of matters at the finish. The Dozer (Gray) and Silver Quex (Messervy) were responsible for a nice effort over the same ground in 1.5 2-5, both horses working particularly "well. Maxam (Mclnally) and' ABerdovey (Spinley) ran a smart half mile in 51s, Gaymiss (Parsons) running the last four of five furlongs in 52 3-ss. Other gallbps were:— Three Furlongs.—Ascot Bloom, not timed; Verus (McMinn), 43 3-ss; Sealaw (McTavish) and High Sea (Jackson), 42 3-ss; Manuroa (Quedley) and Eagle Hawk (Bfeguely), 395; Kawaiiki (Cleaver) and Minko (Beguely), 395. Four Furlongs.—Gamos (Coker), 565; Miss Gay (Beguely) ami Silver Clarion (Parsons), 53 3-ss; Valimeen (Brown), eafcily, 57 2-ss; Kerona (Mclnally) and Payette (Spinley), 52 3-ss; Heroic Star (Brown) and Princesa Nassau (Quedley), 535, from barrier start. Five Furlongs— Dinki Di (Ferrall) and Court Favourite (Gray), 1.7 3-5; Palustre (Walters), l.d 1-5; Hunting Bee (Mclnally), 1.7; Inver (Coleman), 1.8; Lovaals (Byown), .1.7; Lady Pay (Parsons), 1.8 1-& Six Furlongs—Princess Val (Coleman), 1.10 3-5.
