WOMAN HERD-TESTER.

WHANG AREI, Wednesday. The first woman herd-testing officer in North Auckland, Miss I. Bailie, has now commenced her duties in the Hokianga area. Miss Bailie is from Wellington and has taken a course in herd testing work at Massey College. An increase of about 50 per cent is shown in the number of farmers testing their herds this season, when compared with the previous season, under the Northland Herd Improvement Association, which covers the whole of the Northland area. The manager, Mr. G.J E. Durnev, said that difficulty was being experienced in securing the necessary testing officers as well the extra equipment required. •
