MANY FALSE ALARMS.

FIRE BOARD'S MONTH. Twenty-two false alarm* called brigades of the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board out during the month ended August 31. This was reported at today's meeting of the board. Mr. J. J. Kingston presided. Only six of the calk were considered to be malicious, it was stated by Mr. W. L. Wilson, the superintendent. Altogether 58 calls were responded to during the period, and 11 of them were due to foul and defective chimneys. A glue-pot boiling dry on a gas ring wae the cause of one alarm, and an iron being left switched on called th<* brigade out on I another occasion.
