FOURTH DIVISION.

STRENGTH OF A.I.F. New Plans Will Complete Army Corps. United Press Association.—Copyright. (Reed. 11 a.m.) MELBOURNE, this day. Mr. R. G. Menzles announced today that the War Cabinet had decided to increase the A.I.F. strength by the formation of another division. The present objective strength of the A.I.F. is therefore to be an army corps, comprising four divisions with corps troops. The present divisions are the 6th, 7th and Bth, and the new one will be the 9th. Mr. Menziee said the nucleus of the 9th Division will comprise certain units at present abroad. The division will be brought to strength by the dispatch of existing reinforcements for organisation into units abroad. The new division will not entail immediate resumption of recruiting, but it will be necessary later to replace certain units taken into the 9th Division and to provide reinforcements. When recruiting is resumed a definite quota will periodically be laid down and enlistments made, selective preference being given to single men.
