SINGAPORE ARRESTS. Consul To Demand Immediate Release. United Press Association.— Copyright. (Reed. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 23. Six Japanese—four men and two women—were detained by the police on Saturday, saye a Singapore message. Four of them have now been released. One man, Mamuro Shimozaki, and Miss Atsuko Yamakawa, were charged to-day under the Official Secrete Ordinance and were remanded. The Tokyo correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain reports thai the Foreign Office announced that it had directed the Consul-General *t Singapore to strongly protest against the arrestf and to demand their immediate release, one of the Japanese being a member of the consular staff. The Dome! news agency called the British:action a national affront, and connected the incident with proposals to give the United States Fleet facilities at Singapore.' ■;•' '
