DEATH OF MINER.
PARENT'S DISCOVERY. An inquest was opened yesterday and later adjourned by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, into the death of Herbert Fletcher, miner, aged 31, who was found dead by hie parents when they ■returned home after attending church yesterday morning. Deceased was a single man and lived at 7, Leslie Avenue, Sandringhara. Evidence was given by the father, Thomas Fletcher, that deceased, owing to hie health, had not been able to follow his occupation of miner during the past twelve months, and had been doing odd jobs. He was to start work as an attendant. at the Veterans' Home on Snuday. When witness left home on Sunday morning to attend church deceased appeared to be in good spirits, and at no time had he expressed any intention of committing suicide. When witness returned from church he found deceased sitting in a chair in front of the stove. The gas was turned on. Dr. Heycock was sent for and on arrival pronounced life extinct.
