LICENSE REVIEW.
TRANSPORT OF GOODS. NORTH SHORE TAXI SERVICES. Goods service licenses brought under the Transport Law Amendment Act of 1939 were granted for one year and as the expiration of that period is approaching arrangements are being made by No. 1 Licensing Authority, Mr. E. J. Phelan, to review them. The authority hae to be satisfied that operators have complied with the terms of their licenses in respect to driving hours and wages, and will require also to be satisfied that these services are being operated on a sound economic basis. The area covered by the majority of the licenses extends from the southern boundary of the Manukam county, which rune approximately through the southern boundary of the Papakiira town district to a line in the north bounded by the West Coast-Kumeu-Pukeatua-Silverdale main highway.
The authority has decided that early next month he will review those taxi services operating on the North Shore and which come under his control, with a view to ascertaining whether, under existing conditions, these services are all necessary and are being operated in accordance with the requirements of the transport regulations.
