GERMAN HOUSEWIFE.
RELIEF FOR LONDON. "K.Z. WOMAN'S WEEKLY." Hitler promised German women the Kingdom of Heaven upon earth. Millions of German women and millions of girls went wild over him to the misfortune of their own and other countries. How many of them are to-day cursing Hitler with the eame hysteria after eeven years of unfulfilled promises? The life of the average German housewife under the Xazi regime is the subject of an illuminating article in this week's issue of the "N.Z. Women's Weekly," in -which the author draws attention to the prevalence of nervous complaints among the women of the Third Reich. At least fifteen million German women are now working ten •hours a day in factories. Many of these women are suffering from glandular disorders of all kinds and probably the frequent suicides among working class women are due to the attacks of depression to which people with these troubles are subject.
In the current issue of the magazine the editreee launches a Heart-to-Heart appeal for the people of stricken London. Every reader .is asked to do his or her share, however email, towards alleviating the suffering of the English people. Donations in cash are a risible and outward sign of our sympathy and gratitude. They tell the Londoners in their hour of trial that millions throughout this far-flung Empire stand behind them. In addition there are the usual smart free patterns for readers to choose from, instructions for knitting some dainty underwear, two complete short stories and a further instalment of the absorbing serial.
