BAIL REFUSED.
MIDDLE-AGED WONip. REMAND ON SERIOUS CHARGE. Arrested by Detective-Sergeant F. X. Aplin, a woman. Ha'/.el Anne Batchelor, aged 4!), was brought before' Mr. J. Morlnig, S.M., in the Police Court to-day, charged, on September l(i, with the unlawful use on a girl of an instrument or other means, with intent to procure a certain result. Detective-Sergeant Nalder applied for a remand until September 30. Appearing for accused, Mr. Robinson asked that bail be allowed. "I understand that the girl concerned is not in any danger," he said. "Accused is in a poor state of health." Detective-Sergeant Nalder said he had been instructed to oppose bail. Bail was refused by the magistrate, who granted the remand. "She will not have long to wait," said Mr. Moiling.
