HOME THOUGHTS.
"CHEERIO" MESSAGES. CONTINUATON OF SERVICE. Another full page of "Cheerio" messages published in the "Star" Eight o'Clock sports edition on Saturday leaves no doubt that the scheme has met with the enthusiastic approval of those with friends, and relatives serving overseas. Each man for whom there was a message will receive a post-paid copy of the paper by the first available mail.
More letters of congratulation and thanks for the inauguration of the "Cheerio" service have been received from subscribers who have been quick to realise the advantage of sending a bright and comprehensive summary of the week's sporting news to the troops as well as the personal printed message. Comments heard concerning the illustrations appearing last Saturday all incline to the belief that if the photographs of Auckland's bathing beauties fail to make the Diggers think of home, nothing will.
Readers are again reminded that the closing date for messages to be inserted in next Saturday's sports edition is 9 p.m. on Thursday. The fee charged for a message of 15 words, excluding the napie and military address of the recipient, is 2/G, while longer messages may be published at a slight extra cost. Special ."Cheerio" forms are available at the "Star" Office.
