ACCLIMATISATION WORK. WHANGAREI SOCIETY'S PLANS. WHANGAREI, this day. •The Whangarei Acclimatisation Society is undertaking a comprehensive scheme for the growing of feed for wild ducks. Plantings in the lagoon* and ponds will be made next wi\ek of ;i ,-pccie- of Wiitcr lily on whicli the duck* feed. The society ha* placed a la rue order for young pheasant* for liberation next year. With a low percentage of loss, this year lias been a record for the hatching of trout in the society's hatcheries. The fry are now ready for liberation. Actually this week 200,000 rainbow trout fry were released in the Kaihu and Donnelly's Crossing streams.
Of the 400.00(1 fry still in the hatcheries, -10,000 will be liberated next week in Bay of Islands streams and 2<io.<HiU in Whangarei streams. The remainder will be kept in holding ponds at the hatcheries for liberation in *tw» hnjjerling end eiJtgg.
