LOCAL BODIES.
BIRKENHEAD BOROUGH. The Blrkenhead Borough Council met last evenIng, the Mayor, Mr. E. J. Osborne, presiding. Building Permits.—Building permits totalling £2025 were granted. This Included a new bus garage valued at £1500. Water Supply.—During the month of August 3,383,000 gallons of water were pumped, which is 74,000 gallons more than in the previous month. Hospital For North Shore.—Replies were received from the Takapuna and Northcote Borough Councils in connection with the suggestion of a conference to establish a hospital on the North Shore. It was resolved that a meeting of the four deputy-mayors of the North Shore boroughs Dβ convened to discuss full proposals to present to the Auckland Hospital Board.
