CAN UNITED CLINCH HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP?
Thrilling play should be the order of the day when the two top teams in the Auckland senior competition—United and St. Luke's—'meet in the principal game at Hobson Park to-morrow afternoon. St. Luke's will be exceptionally keen to lower the leader's colours, as a lose or a draw* will awure United of championship honours for the season, and it ie then likely that the association will clone the competition and proceed with the remaining series of the Devonport Shield. As a curtain-raiser to this (tme, rranklln will play the Auckland junior representatives. On the No. 2 ground, Somervllle meets Grammar Old Boys In the early match. They will be followed by Albertlans and University A, while University B and Training College will play on Mo. 5 ground at 1.45 p.m. Owing to the representative games at Wellington (August 31) and Hamilton (September 14) to-morrow will be only the second time in a month that the senior championship programme has been staged.
