NEW FIRE STATION.
An additional contribution to meet the cost of the new Auckland fire station was agreed to by the City Council.
The secretary of the Auckland Fire Board stated that the lowest tender for the men's quarters, including architect's fees, was £47,227. Since receipt of the architect's estimate of £3)3,800, a number of matters had arisen to increase the cost. An additional loan would be required to cover the extra cost of men's quarters, eay, £10,000, and main block, say, £30,000. It was anticipated tfie sanction would 'be given if the contributing local bodies were agreeable. They assumed that the extra annual cost to the board would be £2400, onehalf to be borne by the local authorities.
