ACTION AT TAIHAPE.
SMAUL MEETING CRITICISED. TAIHAPE, thfc day. At a recent meeting held in Taihape it was decided to form a Home Guard. Mr. C. Lowry made some strong comment regarding the small attendance at the meeting, pointing out that the people didn't realise the seriousness of the situation. Mr. Lowry enlisted for overseas service some months ago, but was discharged on account of a cricket injury to a leg. The Mayor, Mr. L. B. H. Delautour, presided, and remarked that public' meetings in Taihape were never well attended unleee there was a prospect of a row, but he felt eure the committee would be inundated with applications for enrolment when enrolling was started. — (Press Assn.)
