Tidal Wave, the top-priced colt at the Trentham yearlimr sales of 1939. improved on an unplaced effort in the Hobartvitte Stakes to take eecond place in "the Cantfer•bury Guineas at the Canterbury Park meeting in Sydney last Saturday week. Ensign won the Guineits, but only by half a head. Tidal Wave attracted the attention of J. T. Jamieson at Treutham, the Sydney trainer bidding 1450 guineas to secure the chestnut Tiderace—My Own colt.
