SPENCER BEATS CARRICK.
A surprise occurred in connection with the provincial open snooker championship at Messrs. Barton and McGill's Hall last evening, when W. Spencer defeated R. Carrtck in straight games. In the second game Carrick required the pink and black to tie, and he succeeded with both. This meant the re-potting of of the black, and fortune favoured Spencer.
The scores were as follows:—W. Knott beat A. Moon, 54—1$, 57—59, 62—32; C. A. Smith beat V. Fredatovich, 78—35. 71—39; W. Spencer beat B. Carrick. 63 —50, 65—58. The games for to-night are: C. Woods v. D. Denniss. 7.30: E. V. Roberts v. C. Cristofl, 8.30; D. C. White V. J. D. SchulU, 9 p.m.
