THAILAND'S DEMANDS. Threat To Denounce Treaty Of Non-Aggression. (Reed. 1.30 p.m.) BANGKOK, Sept. 16. Thailand has demanded from IndoChina:—(l) Delimitation of the Thai-land-Indo-China border with the deepest channel of the Mekong River forming the boundary, also the immediate transfer of 40 riparian islands to Thailand. (2) Cession of the Luang Praband area, along the northern border to Thailand. (3) A guarantee of the safety of Siamese inhabiting Laos Steppes, northwest of Indo-China, or cession of this area. It is understood Uhailand will denounce the non-aggression treaty with Indo-China unless the demands are met. BUND CAMP RAID. Sequel To Explosion In U.S. Powder Plant. SHERIFF TAKES ACTION. NEW YORK, Sept. 16. The Kenvil County Sheriff and his deputies raided the German-American Bund camp, 12 miles from the scene of the Hercules powder plant explosion, after which they visited the ruins of the plant. The death roll as a result of the explosion is 42, while about 30 persons are still missing. About 300 were injured. SAFE IN CANADA. BRITISH FLYING BOAT. (Reed. 2 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 16. The report that the flying boat Clare was missing while on its way to England from America has been authoritativelv denied. ' A message from Montreal says the Clare has arrived at Boucherville (Canada) with three passengers and officials of the Ministry of Aircraft Production. According to the Montreal "Daily News" an unconfirmed report said the flying boat was missing on its third hop to New York. It was feared lost, since an unidentified large 'plane was reported to have been forced down near Iceland on Saturday.
N.S.W. BY-ELECTION.
SYDNEY, Sept. 18. A further by-election for the New Wales Legislative Assembly, due to the resignation of Mr. Eric Spooner to contest a Federal seat, was held on Saturday in the Ryde electorate. There are five candidates, three of whom represent rival schools of Labour. However, the Government candidate, Mr. A. J. Mitchell, seems likely to retain the seat ■when the preferences. are. distributed early in the week.
