COURTESY OF SOLDIERS.
Recently I •was one of about 30 peopl* waiting to board trams at the safeiy zone at Grafton Bridge about five-thirty one evening. At last a crowded Thres_ Kings tram arrived and there was an unholy rush to get aboard. There was standing room on the rear platform, and ae I went to climb on I was nearly knocked flying by some very wellmannered gentleman! A young soldier, also wishing to travel o"n this tram, stood aside and allowed me to enter before him, then the conductor put tk* chain across the platform and wouldn't allow the soldier on the tram, although there was still room for one more pas- j senger. This is what comes of having been well brought up and not dragged up! Some of the conductor* should learn a few manners and a spot of discipline. This goes for the scores of our so-called, well-mannered business gentlemen as well. Give me the manners of the fighting services every time! THE RED HEAD.
