GLEN AFTON TROUBLE. MR. G. L. HUNTER ARRIVES. HUXTLY, this diT. r With both the McDonald and the Glea Afton sections of the Glen Afton colliery idle, there were nearly 400 meg on strike at Huntly this morning, hot hopes are high that a settlement of the dispute will be effected soon. Mr. C. L. Hunter, Labour -"Department liaison officer, arrived from Wellington early to-day and spent most of the morning in conference with Mr. T. Hall, secretary of the Northern Miners' Union, and with the works manager. A meeting of the miners was to hire been held this morning at which it *513 expected Mr. Hunter would *peak. Jt was, however, postponed until this afternoon. Xo work was done in either section of the colliery yesterday. A stop-work meeting was held bv the 185 rainers>jn the Glen Afton section yesterday morning and they decided to go out in sympathy with the 200 men of the McDonald section who were already oat.
