BRIGHT CONCERT.
VICTORIA LEAGUE. YOUNG CONTINGENT'S EFFORT. A bright and varied selection of items, including choruses, ballets and original mime and several musical items, was presented a/t a concert given by members of the Victoria League loung Contingent in the Lewis Eady Hall last night. The proceeds of the concert, which will be repeated to-night, will be used for the league's Empire work. Miss Ela Hutchison was the producer, while the ballets were trained by Mifis Daphne Knight and tlie plays produced by Miss Roseanne Lovell and Miss Mary Pilkington. The opening chorus, entitled "Good Moining,' was presented by IS members of the company and completed by a solo dance by Miss Patricia Tennent. "Villikins and His Dinah," an original mime, was produced by Miss Mavis McCulloch, with Mrs. Humfrey Gordon as the soloist, while in another concerted musical item the soloist was Mrs. Keith Cutten. Miss Betty Brown and Miss Phyllis Renner gave duets, Mrs. Harold Owers and Mr. Geoffrey Laird songs, Mrs. R. Reed and Miss Loma Reed pianoforte duets. Mrs. J. Allen sketches, and Mr. Gerald Pinnock, musical monologues.
"There'll Always Be An England." sung by Mr. Geoffrey Laird, with the chorus given by the company, made an impre6siv«( finale. Mrs. Reed and Miss Reed were the accompanists, the former also providing the incidental music.
