INDUSTRIAL APPEAL.

A decision of the industrial magistrate, Mr. J. A. Gilmour, that a workman employed by Winstone, Limited, at a quarry came under the engine drivers' award in that he was substantially in charge of a mechanical plant was argued in appeal before the Arbitration Court yesterday by Mr. W. E. Anderson (Employers' Association), and Mr. W. R. Tuck (Engine Drivers' Union). The magistrate decided that the man was just within the engine drivers' award, and entitled to £5 1/6 a week. Appellants submitted that the man was a crusher feeder, and his only other diity -was to turn on and turn off the switch of an electric engine. The Court reserved judgment.
